- We have a view of what may shape the future: unlocking the potential of manufacturing technology must begin today and go straight to the core of companies’ strategy
Technology changes are all around us, coming faster than ever. Yet, we can no longer be waiting and wondering how the latest technology innovations will change things; rather, we are taking control and shaping technology to fit societal needs.
Future technology is also likely to require a high degree of compliance management. Many new technologies will require additional government regulation, while others, such as the internet supported technologies, will require government support.
New and emerging manufacturing technologies will change the profile of workforce skills and abilities, creating demand for technological skill sets. The worldwide competition for qualified staff in science, technology, and engineering has been at its highest level since the global financial crisis.
One of the essential foundations for creating a successful industrial company over the long term is to identify manufacturing technological trends from an early stage and to exploit the opportunities that new technologies offer for product innovations.
Manufacturing technology is an increasingly important element in the business of industrial companies. Its impact is complex and there is a need to integrate it into the strategic management process.
This implies that business management has to accept a wide role for the technology in the formulation of strategy, and also that technical management must broaden its approach to the strategic management of manufacturing technology.
The great extent of the technological progress dynamic nature makes it increasingly difficult for industrial companies to comprehensively identify technology-related opportunities and to exploit them in a goal-oriented manner.
Preparing for the next wave of innovations is largely being driven by a rapidly changing manufacturing technology landscape. It will enhance and extend companies efficiency through technological transformation.
Making investments in new manufacturing technologies before they are fully proven is increasingly becoming a differentiator for companies.
The ability of an industrial company to rapidly and efficiently align to the requirements of the market with the potential offered by new technologies and to integrate them in its own processes is a prerequisite key for successful manufacturing technology development that create a path to tomorrow’s innovations.
